Bowen Therapy

Gentle, effective and affordable, Bowen therapy is a holistic approach
to wellbeing and balance.

The original Bowen technique, or Bowtech, is a whole body therapy that can assist with pain, chronic illness and, as you’ll see below, a huge range of other dis-ease in the body. It can also be used to compliment your current medical treatment of you health care proffesional.

Due to its non-manipulative gentle nature, Bowen therapy is suitable for people of all ages and stages of life, from newborn babies and pregnant women to the elderly or unwell.

Bowen therapy may help with the following conditions:

  • Sport injuries, such as tennis or golfer’s elbow, foot problems, bursitis
  • General wellbeing including stress ,depression or general fatigue
  • Poor circulation
  • Back pain and sciatica
  • Digestive problems- reflux, irritable bowel, constipation
  • Pregnancy issues such as back pain, mobility and relaxation
  • Post-birth recovery and some lactation issues
  • Hormonal and menstrual irregularities
  • Musculoskeletal issues e.g. frozen shoulder, neck or groin pain, pelvic tilt and uneven leg length
  • RSI ( Repetive Strain Injury) or carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Ear ache and infection
  • Jaw problems- misalignment, clicking, pain
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Hayfever, sinus and other respiratory issues

Bowen for Babies-  Bowen therapy can have a gentle healing & calming effect on babies and children. Baby Bowen gently assists recovery post-birth, and can help realign the bones, muscles and nerves of the spine, jaw, neck and head. Muscle tension or the type & way baby is born can affect breastfeeding attachment and weight gain, and can contribute to fussy or colicky babies. If your baby was born by Caesarian, had instrument assisted birth or a labour that was quite fast or long he will benefit greatly from Bowen in adjusting to life after birth.

“I’m thrilled with Bowen’s ability to assist baby’s birth recovery and wellbeing. New mums benefit too, with Bowen’s potential for assisting with pregnancy and post-birth joint pain, sciatica, relaxation and some lactation issues.”

Bowen therapy can assist older children with:

  • Sinus and jaw problems
  • Bedwetting
  • Asthma
  • Constipation
  • Sleep difficulty
  • Emotional trauma
  • Ear congestion

Bowen treatments take between 15 and 60 minutes. Three sessions are usually required initially depending on individual needs and individual body responses

During treatment, your Bowen therapist uses a series of gentle muscle stretch movements; treatment is relaxing & generally painless. Throughout treatment there are regular pauses allowing your body to respond and benefit from each move.

Bowen continues to work in the body for up to 10 days with results often continuing for some time, unless injury occurs again. Bowen complements traditional medical care, but it's best to leave seven days between your treatment and any other form of muscle manipulation.
